A36 and A303: Driver escapes police in 130mph car chase

A DRIVER managed to escape the police by hitting speeds of 130mph in a 60mph zone over the weekend.

The vehicle was initially clocked on the A36 Alderbury bypass doing 115mph.

It then reached speeds of 130mph in a 60 as it failed to stop for the Roads Policing Unit, before taking to narrow lanes to avoid capture.

The Specialist Operations team at Wiltshire Police tweeted on Sunday to say: “You may have got away today, but the paper work is already in the post!”, along with this picture of a speed gun showing 115mph.

A tweet from the same account over the weekend also showed three different speeds of more than 100mph recorded on the A303, with the account adding: “Let’s hope the trip to court slows them down.”
